World Health Network (WHN) Business Group: Volunteer Factsheet

Introduction

Our goal is to engage purpose-driven business leaders to address pandemic-related challenges that are impacting work, society, and health and get it back on the agenda of every boardroom. Starting with B Corps (leaders that have legally signed up to using their business as a force for good).

Current Setup

  • We operate a LinkedIn group separate from the larger World Health Network.
  • Monthly Boardroom Briefings translate risk science and solutions.
  • We’re integrating with WHN communications, data, and long COVID advisory efforts.

Our Strategy

  1. Integrate Health into Business:
  2. Business Change Framework:
    • E -> CLEAN: Create Inclusive workplaces.
    • S -> HEALTHY: Enable radical rest (to support recovery).
    • G -> SUSTAINABLE: Treat Long Covid by Investing in new medicine.

Proposed Projects

  1. CLEAN:
    • Launch a Business -focused Clean Indoor Air Working Group and charter
    • Collaborate with organizations investing in outdoor/ air pollution.
  2. HEALTHY:
    • Develop a sickness and absence calculator to show HR the benefits of clean air and radical rest policies.
  3. SUSTAINABLE:
    • Quantify the insurance and pensions landscape and gap for chronic illness and women’s health.

Other activities 

  • Continue to fight dis/mis-information on business platforms. 
  • Help grow/ amplify WHN social channels (especially LinkedIn).
  • Represent WHN at global health, disability and business trade organizations.
  • Design a global campaign to mobilize Bcorps to “protect our health” and work on “saving people and planet”.
  • Work towards a global roundtable and thinktank partnership in 2025.

Expected Impact

  • Unlock new funding and resources.
  • Incoming governments ready for action. 
  • Business lobbying for new legislation and invest in future health solutions.
