More Alabama Schools Proactive with COVID-19 Testing,
Students Receive Monthly Gift Card

Every week you can find about 70 percent of Avondale Elementary school students take a COVID-19 test in this room. In almost two years since UAB and the testing company started this program, Dr. Angela Sullivan says more schools across Alabama have hopped on board.

“We were able to onboard a lot of schools last year. Right now, we have about 236 schools and 43 school systems who participate,” Sullivan said.

She adds many just want to get a better hold of the virus in the classroom while keeping daily group activities going.

“Once folks really started figuring out what they need to do they used this as a tool to help make them those decisions. Once schools saw other districts participating it made it that much easier,” Sullivan said.
