T. Ryan Gregory
Evolutionary Biologist
Dr. Gregory completed his BSc in biology at McMaster University and his PhD in evolutionary biology and zoology at the University of Guelph, after which he carried out postdoctoral research at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Natural History Museum in London, England, before returning to join the faculty at the University of Guelph. His academic interests include genome size and junk DNA, biodiversity, evolutionary theory, evolution education, and scientific communication. He has been the recipient of research awards from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the American Society of Naturalists, the Canadian Society of Zoologists, and the Genetics Society of Canada, as well as a teaching award from the University of Guelph. From 2018-2022 he was Chair of the Department of Integrative Biology and from 2014-2021 he was Editor-in-Chief of the journal Evolution: Education and Outreach.
